The First Anniversary of AIDS Relief Fund for China: A reception co-hosted by University of California, San Francisco, Center for AIDS Prevention Studies

On this evening, Mr. Shen Yang from the Chinese Consulate, Professor Lingchi Wang, UC Berkeley and Mr. Chung To of Chi Heng Foundation gathered with more than 80 ARFC supporters to celebrate ARFC's one-year anniversary. We also saw Yao Ming and Magic Johnson's AIDS-awareness TV ad, which was produced for Chinese television by the NBA and China's AIDS Media Project. The fundraising goal for the evening was $20,000. By the end of the reception, pledges and donations totaled $17,000. An additional $2,500 was sent in afterwards. The bugdet for 2005 was met.

Martin Gordon of Barry & Martin's Trust visited ARFC in San Francisco

Martin Gordon, O.B.E., established Barry & Martin's Trust in 1996, to assist grassroots AIDS prevention and treatment work as well as the protection of gay rights in China. He personally visits remote villages and helps the most needed. Recently his contribution has helped build the first AIDS hospital in China. The Barry & Martin Award for the Excellence in HIV/AIDS Prevention and Service always makes headlines in the local media in China. Martin is both a friend and a model for ARFC.

ARFC arranged a press conference to introduce Martin's work to our Bay Area community.
